This is a wonderful book, full of history from Queen Victoria to the present, with lovely photos of the Royal Family- A MUST for Anglophiles, and cooks alike! Included are dinner services for Royal Formal dinners, and all the dishes served. There is also a food glossary- very helpful.
This book is from the diaries of a former Butler, a man who grew up in service with his father under the reign of Queen Victoria. A very interesting read- I loved it!
The contents of the book make for a fun read for royal watchers, with one caveat emptor. The version is chalked full of errors and mistakes. The worst mistakes show whole chapters and pages repeated word for word throughout the text. This version needs an editor, badly.
Doesn't seem to open. I have tons of other books in my kindle library and they all open so it isn't me. I have no idea of how to notify of this problem. I'd probably like it if I could get to it
So insightful! French food seems popular at dinner in an English palace. A nice picture into life an an English monarch. Breakfast at 9. Elevenses at eleven. Luncheon at 1. Tea at 430.
I found this to be a rather dated and not-so-easy recipes. An exotic buy, but an interesting book to examine.
For British Royal watchers. The Buckingham Palace cooks pay absolutely no attention to the perils of cholesterol when serving up.
